“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot. We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” wrote the legendary Apollo 11 astronaut.
His 63-year-old bride is the executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC and has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
This marriage is Aldrin’s fourth after having been married to Joan Ann Archer, Beverly Van Zile, and Lois Driggs Cannon. He has three children from his first marriage.
The Apollo 11 mission was the first in human history to land men on the moon, and Aldrin was the second man to walk the lunar surface after Neil Armstrong. He remains the last living of the three astronauts on the 1969 Apollo 11 moon mission.
He retired from NASA in 1971. He has remained an advocate for the expansion of crewed space exploration and in recent years, pushed for the colonization of Mars.
