NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman praised the Artemis II team for their efforts in maintaining the United States’s presence on the moon and empowering future generations.

“We undertake these great missions of science and discovery, but we can bring the world together, and we can inspire the next generation. I mean, I can’t imagine how many kids are going to dress up as astronauts for Halloween.” Isaacman said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom on Thursday.

President Donald Trump hosted the crew at the White House on Wednesday, where he said there was a “good shot” of returning to the moon again during his second term.

Artemis II launched on April 1. The mission took nine days, and the crew returned on April 10. This marked a key step toward a return to space and advanced a pivotal step for future possible missions to Mars.

Isaacman emphasized the scale and significance of these NASA missions.

“If you are 25 years or younger in this world, you’ve never lived at a time where you didn’t have an American astronaut orbiting above you. But I’ll tell you, the next step is to go out further,” Isaacman said.

“We are building an enduring presence on the moon.”

He said the goal is to pick up where Apollo 17 left off, and to build a moon base, which could “unlock a lunar economy.”

Isaacman also noted that a feeling of pride was instilled in Americans, as they “look up at the night sky and imagine the possibilities.”

“If you are a child right now and inspired about what we do at NASA,  you are growing up in the best time possibly imaginable,” Isaacman said.
