Class action plaintiff using ‘shotgun’ approach, eBay claims

NEW ORLEANS (Legal Newsline) – Online auction company eBay has filed a motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit against it for an alleged data breach, claiming the plaintiff failed to state a claim.

“Plaintiff brings this putative class action seeking to capitalize on a cyberattack on eBay’s computer network in which criminal hackers accessed a database containing non-financial eBay user information and encrypted passwords,” the Sept. 30 motion to dismiss states.
