Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a push for a Twitter edit button a day after becoming the company’s largest stakeholder, prompting speculation about his efforts to influence Twitter’s future.
Musk posted a poll to his Twitter account Monday night asking whether users wanted an edit button, including a cheeky reference to the benefits of the feature by offering responses of “yse” or “on,” just one day after a financial filing revealed that Musk had purchased a 9.2% stake in Twitter’s future. Even Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal alluded to the power the poll’s results could have.

Please vote carefully,” Agrawal wrote in a quote-tweet of Musk’s poll, echoing the phrasing of Musk’s March 25 poll that sparked interest in whether Musk was investing in social media.
The majority of respondents voted “yse” as of Tuesday morning. The poll is set to close at approximately 8 p.m.
MUSK HAS LIKELY ALREADY MADE MORE THAN $1 BILLION ON TWITTER INVESTMENT
Musk, the world’s richest man, now owns 73,486,938 shares in Twitter, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing published on Monday.
Musk declared himself a passive stakeholder in Twitter’s stock in the filing, which means he does not intend to participate in the Big Tech company’s policymaking directly.
But Musk maintained the poll could still be useful in reflecting Twitter users’ preferences.
“If the people vote overwhelmingly for something, it is at least *a* data point!” Musk wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Twitter users have wanted an edit button for several years, and the company teased a rollout of the feature on April 1, though many users speculated that tweet was a joke in celebration of April Fools’ Day.
Musk has already made an estimated $1 billion on his Twitter purchase based on the increase in stock value after the SEC released its filing on Monday.
