Chuck Grassley: Hillary Clinton violated the law with emails

If Hillary Clinton broke the law, she should be charged, according to Sen. Chuck Grassley.

Using a private email account for government business and wiping her home server of emails falls “into one great big mistake she made, and it could be a violation of law, probably is a violation of law,” the Iowa Republican and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee told Newsmax TV.

“Some people are suggesting she could even be prosecuted, and it’s as simple as this — she was using a private email address instead of a government one, and it probably violates the Freedom of Information Act, it probably violates national security legislation laws,” Grassley said Tuesday.

Grassley has been heavily pushing the State Department to release information regarding Clinton — specifically inquiries he has made regarding aide Huma Abedin.

“Are they faithfully executing the laws? If they were, then there’s no reason to hide anything,” Grassley said, questioning how honest and forthcoming Clinton and her aides have been in regards to congressional oversight.

Clinton has faced harsh criticism after it came to light that she used a personal email address based from a server in her New York home instead of an official government email address to conduct business. She is expected to soon announce her intent to run for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.
