Shep Smith discovers the real downside to Obama dumping Cuban trade embargo

Fox News’ Shepard Smith worried Wednesday that President Obama’s plan to “normalize relations” with Cuba would result in the U.S. invading the communist island with fast food restaurants and hardware stores.

“You know, the fear among anybody who has ever been there or cares at all about the Cuban people, as so many of us do, the last thing they need is a Taco Bell and a Lowe’s,” Smith said, referring to reports U.S. businesses are planning to make a concerted effort to break into the Cuban market.

“You know, it’s one big idea and it all sorta comes together and you wonder: Are we about to get up in there and ruin that place?” he asked.

Taco Bell generated roughly $6 billion in U.S. sales for fiscal year 2013, according to an annual report released by Yum! Brands. The fast food chain also employs approximately 150,000 people in the United States.

Separately, Lowe’s generated $53.4 billion in fiscal year 2013, and boasts of roughly 260,000 employees, according to a company press release.
