Ana Navarro, a longtime Republican donor who supported Jeb Bush for president, said congressional Republicans should open a full investigation into the Trump administration’s ties to the Russian government.
Writing Tuesday on Twitter, Navarro cited her donations to the GOP and said the party should not “play dumb.”
“Dear GOP, I supported/donated to you for decades,” she said. “Don’t play dumb on Trump and Russia. Not a good look. Fully investigate! Happy Valentines Day.”
Navarro, a CNN contributor, is one of President Trump’s most outspoken critics on cable news.
The White House is under heightened scrutiny following the late Monday night resignation of national security adviser Mike Flynn.
Flynn resigned amid new reports that top White House officials were warned that the Russian government may have information to blackmail him.
“Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events [during the transition into the White House], I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador,” Flynn said in his resignation letter. “I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology.”
Flynn is suspected of having spoken with Russian officials about U.S. sanctions against the Kremlin, despite previously denying that allegation.
