Carville: From Sen. Craig to Joe the Plumber

Potty Humor

James Carville has a theory on why John McCain is focusing on “Joe the Plumber” so much in this campaign. “The reason the Republicans invented Joe the Plumber is they’re glad they have someone hanging around the toilet besides Larry Craig,” Carville joked at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast on Friday.

But it might not have been his most colorful comparison. He likened the change that the election of Barack Obama on Nov. 4 would bring to D.C. to the “change” created by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. “What you should do before you vote Tuesday morning is kind of look around and try to record in your mind what everything here looks like. Because Wednesday, it ain’t going to look like that. …. There is basically going to be nothing left standing,” he said, adding that it will be like New Orleans “pre-Katrina and post-Katrina.”
