The third ranking Republican in the House argued President Obama is threatening cheap gases prices with policies that hamper American energy exploration.
“The president will try anything he can, even stretch the limits of his power, to keep American-made energy trapped in the ground. But we won’t let that happen,” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise said.
“We will continue to use every tool we have to fight President Obama’s war on American energy and jobs,” the Louisiana Republican said.
“We’re all paying less for gas than we have in years. In some states, they’re talking about prices going down to 99 cents per gallon. For families struggling to get by, that’s much-needed extra money back in their pockets. But not for long, if President Obama has his way,” Scalise said.
Scalise emphasized the need from his perspective for EPA restraint, and a cessation of “the president’s war on coal.”
Scalise became Whip in the leadership shuffle after former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s upset primary defeat in 2014.
