Poll: Trump leads in Indiana

Donald Trump may not secure 1,237 Republican delegates before the party’s July convention, but he is positioned to complete the primary race with momentum from wins in key states.

Trump maintains a large lead in Pennsylvanaia ahead of its primary Tuesday, a CBS News tracking poll released Sunday found.

Trump also leads Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the vital primary state of Indiana, the poll found.

Success in Tuesday’s primary states and in Indiana would put Trump “on pace to eventually clear the majority of 1,237 delegates later in June,” CBS reported.

Trump leads Cruz 40 percent to 35 percent in Indiana, CBS found. Trump leads Cruz 49 percent to 26 percent in Pennslyvania.

The polling found Hillary Clinton leading Sen. Bernie Sanders in Pennsylvania, 51 to 43 percent. She leads Sanders 49 percent to 43 percent in Indiana.

The polling also showed that Democrats generally think Sanders has helped Clinton by contesting the primary race and want him to stay in the fight. In Pennsylvania, 47 percent of Democrats, and most of Sanders’ supporters, say that Sanders has moved Clinton to more progressive positions. Only one in ten think the influence has been negative.
