U.S.-led coalition forces conducted 23 airstrikes against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria forces on Friday and Saturday, the heaviest stretch of attacks since strikes began in August.
Twenty-two of the strikes were conducted in Iraq, with the other in Syria’s city of Kobani, the site of heavy fighting for months as Islamic State forces besieged Kurdish forces defending the city.
Three of the Iraq strikes were near Baiji, one southeast of the Mosul Dam, ten west of the Mosul Dam and four near Fallujah. Two more were near Qurayat al Hajjaj, one east of Hayy Al Arabi and one near Ain Zalah.
U.S. Central Command said all aircraft safely completed their strikes.
Coalition partners striking targets in Iraq include the U.S., France, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kindgom. Coalition partners striking targets in Syria includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., Jordan and Bahrain, according to CentCom.
The cost of Operation Inherent Resolve is nearing half a billion dollars.
