George Pataki, the 53rd governor of New York, launched his 2016 presidential campaign Thursday.
Pataki, a moderate Republican, made the announcement via a YouTube video Thursday morning. He has not held elected office since 2007.

“America has a big decision to make about who we’re going to be, what we’re going to stand for,” Pataki says in the video. “The question is no longer what our government should do, but what we should do about our government.”
“Washington has grown too big, too powerful, too expensive and too intrusive,” Pataki, who was governor from 1995 to 2006, says, adding that this type of government is what the Founding Fathers feared. This is why he is seeking the GOP presidential nomination, Pataki says.
GeorgePataki.com also launched Thursday, which displays “Pataki for President.”
Pataki is currently in New Hampshire, expected to make an announcement from there Thursday, according to WNYT.
He does not register support on a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
