Speakeasy: Congressman ponders constitutionality of veggie mandates

“Can Congress make you eat beets? Because beets are good for you! Can Congress make you eat okra? Can Congress make you eat cabbage? If not, why not?”

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., in a critique of the individual health care mandate on the House floor. The Supreme Court is currently hearing a case to determine if the mandate is constitutional.
