Hillary Clinton will headline a New York City fundraiser this week for Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
The event will raise money for the New Hampshire Democrat who is running for re-election against Republican Scott Brown, a source confirmed to the Washington Examiner.
Clinton plans to attend even as she has canceled other events this week after Chelsea Clinton gave birth to a daughter over the weekend.
This is not the first time this election cycle that the Clintons have stepped up to support Shaheen. Former President Bill Clinton also hosted a fundraiser for Shaheen in New York in June.
The Clintons and Shaheen have longstanding ties. Shaheen’s husband, Bill Shaheen, for a time served as Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign co-chair in New Hampshire. Both of the Clintons campaigned for Jeanne Shaheen in 2008, when she won her first term in the Senate.
Hillary Clinton also has another reason to support Shaheen: Should Clinton run for president in 2016, New Hampshire will be an important presidential primary state.
