Sir Ben Kingsley to talk movies at Holocaust Museum

In what has been a both somber and thoughtful event in the past, actor Sir Ben Kingsley is coming to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Tuesday evening to discuss the challenges of playing roles in films depicting the Holocaust.

Kingsley most famously played Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern in “Schindler’s List,” but also took on the roles of Simon Wiesenthal in “Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story” and Otto Frank in “Anne Frank: The Whole Story.” He will be interviewed by the host of NPR’s Weekend Edition Scott Simon. Last year’s discussion attracted a packed audience to see Bob Woodward interview actor Ralph Fiennes, who also appeared in “Schindler’s List.” “The Power of Film and the Holocaust” is open to the public and tickets are available for $175. Those interested in attending should register online by Friday.
