The Republican Party’s image has rebounded to the level that it was at before the government shutdown last fall.
After hitting a low of 28 percent favorability during fall 2013, the GOP’s positive rating among Americans has risen to 40 percent, according to a new Gallup survey.
American’s now view the Democratic and Republican parties similarly, according to the survey.
Both parties are still negatively viewed overall, however, with a 40 percent favorable and 57 percent unfavorable rating for the GOP and a 42 percent favorable and 54 percent unfavorable rating for the Democrats.
Republicans’ views within their own party are still not back up to pre-government shutdown levels, however.
The survey of 1,000 people was conducted Sept. 4-7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
