G-town students greet Rove, sans hostility

After the Gen. David Petraeus showdown just three months earlier (when Georgetown students interrupted the general multiple times), rumors surfaced that Karl Rove would get the same treatment when he spoke to students.

If they had any intent in turning the former White House adviser red, it waned — aside from one mild interruption, the crowd was relatively passive Wednesday.

The Lecture Fund, which hosted the event, appointed two students to ask Rove previously submitted questions. The questions came from its Web site and on index cards from the audience.

The lone outburst: When Rove alleged that the No Child Left Behind program greatly improved reading and math scores, one student twice shouted, “Yeah, by changing the standards.”
