It looks like Sarah Palin‘s much-covered “One Nation” bus tour has run out of gas … halfway through its journey, no less.
The SarahPAC website is still featuring pop-ups encouraging visitors to follow or donate to the tour, which rolled out to lots of media coverage — and comedy — last month, but RealClearPolitics reports that Palin and her family have stopped short of the tour’s scheduled destinations in the Midwest and Southeast, and instead have “reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska, where the skies are currently alight for over 19 hours a day and the Bristol Bay salmon fishing season is nearing its peak.”
RCP’s Scott Conroy speculates that she may be missing out on bonding with political players like Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley – both integral figures in early voting states, but Palin probably isn’t done courting conservative voters in the primary. Media watchers are weighing the potential impact of the release of “The Undefeated” – a pro-Palin documentary from director Stephen Bannon, who has been scouting for venues in Iowa (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-ap-mn-palinmovie-screen,0,1865310.story) for the film’s premier in July.
