Rudy are you running?

It’s never too early to start campaigning for 2012. That seemed to be the mind-set of Rudy Giuliani Wednesday, traveling down to Washington to speak at what event host American Enterprise Institute called a discussion on capitalism. Giuliani, though, seemed to seize it as a chance to practice a future primary speech filled with one-liners aimed at the current president.

The former mayor of New York City started out taking shots at President Barack Obama’s economic plans, calling the stimulus a “disaster” and claimed he “defined the problem we had incorrectly.”

“I’m afraid we’re embracing social democracy. … Oh, because, you know Europe’s economy’s been so vibrant,” he deadpanned.

Next up on the 2008 Republican presidential candidate list — attacks on Obama’s health care policies.

“How do you cover 30-40 million people without spending any money? I guess by not giving any real coverage,” was his first blow, followed by calling the president out for rushing passage of his plan before the summer recess.

“What’s the rush? Why not have it examined in the marketplace of ideas?,” he asked, before recommending that with more time we can “maybe give [President Obama] a chance to read” the bill, which many in the crowd applauded.
