DeLay picks Kurt Warner over Bristol Palin

The cast of the 11th season of “Dancing With the Stars” is set, and again, it doesn’t have an all-out politico joining the ranks.Instead, Sarah Palin‘s daughter Bristol is the competitor with the closest connection to Washington and the political world.

That sits all right with Tom DeLay, the last former politician to dance on the show. When Yeas & Nays talked to him Tuesday, the former House majority leader was pleased with the cast.

“Well, I think it’s a pretty good cast and I think it’s going to be a fun cast,” DeLay said. “They pretty much covered the gamut.”

DeLay is picking athletics over party politics in choosing his top contender.

“My favorite is Kurt Warner, he’s a great guy,” he said of the former NFL quarterback. His other top picks? Michael Bolton and “The Brady Bunch” mom, Florence Henderson.

“I always cheer for the senior,” he explained.

DeLay had nice things to say about Palin, too.

“I have never met her, but she seems like the little girl next door. I’m really happy for her,” DeLay said.

But what about the other name that’s getting all the buzz? “The Situation” from MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”

“I’ve never seen it,” DeLay confessed. “I’ve never even heard of it.” (Seriously?)

Other cast members include Audrina Patridge from “The Hills,” David Hasselhoff, “Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Gray and comedian Margaret Cho, among others.

When it comes to advice for the competitors, DeLay says to watch those toes.

“Take care of your feet, I’m serious,” he said. “Take care of them upfront, don’t wait until they start becoming painful.”

The Republican politician had to quit his season after suffering from dual stress fractures in his feet. The season premieres Sept. 20.
