Could your city survive a zombie apocalypse?

People dressed as zombies will fill the streets this Halloween night, but what if zombies were more than just normal people in face paint and tattered clothes, and were real?

What would you do to survive a zombie apocalypse, and where would you go?

Employment site CareerBuilder fittingly ranked 53 of America’s largest metropolitan areas to determine what cities give people the best chance of survival.

Based on factors like population density, industrial resources, skilled labor concentration and medical facilities, the “totally necessary and 100 percent practical” report ultimately found that Boston gives people “the highest chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse.”

Here are the top five cities:

1. Boston

2. Salt Lake City

3. Columbus, Ohio

4. Baltimore

5. Virginia Beach, Virginia

“Salt Lake City, Columbus, Baltimore and Virginia Beach are also well-positioned to win World War Z,” a press release said. “Although it may have survived an alien invasion in the movie ‘Independence Day,’ New York City was found to be least equipped to survive an undead infiltration, ranking at the bottom of the list at 53.”

New York joins some other big cities that CareerBuilder says should be avoided if the zombie outbreak happens.

Here are the bottom five cities:

1. New York

2. Tampa, Florida

3. Los Angeles

4. Riverside-San Bernardino, California

5. Chicago

The group also determined which cities are best equipped for defense, most likely to find a cure, best equipped for containment and have the best food supply.
