Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is warning the Republican Party that it would likely be in big trouble if it doesn’t unify behind Donald Trump, should he win the GOP nomination for president.
“As predicted, Trump reaching out to make peace with Republican ‘establishment,'” Murdoch said Wednesday on Twitter. “If he becomes inevitable [nominee], party would be mad not to unify.”

Trump came away with big gains in the primary on Tuesday, winning seven of the 11 states that were up for grabs.
At a press conference Tuesday evening, the billionaire businessman, known for his incendiary remarks about his GOP rivals, struck a somewhat conciliatory tone. He congratulated Ted Cruz for his own wins and said that if the party unites, it will defeat the Democrats in November.
Many in the GOP and in the conservative media are resistant to Trump, and say he is insufficiently conservative and that nominating him would be a setback to the party.
Murdoch, whose sprawling corporate empire includes Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, warned against conspiring against Trump in December, when it was reported that veteran Republicans were plotting to take down Trump through a barrage of negative ads.
He said at the time that the GOP would be “mad” to try “ganging up” on Trump and that it would “guarantee” a win for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
