Fiorina says Trump has no chance against Clinton

DES MOINES — The Iowa caucuses are only a stone’s throw away, and despite Donald Trump’s strong poll numbers, Carly Fiorina still doesn’t believe he stands a chance in the general election.

Fiorina told the Washington Examiner in an interview Wednesday that she stands by her claim that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would “wipe the floor” with Trump because he isn’t a true outsider.

“She will. First of all, you can’t beat an insider with an insider,” Fiorina said. “Secondly, Donald Trump has managed to offend a huge number of people, and you don’t win elections by insulting everybody. So he’s not going to win a general election.”

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO remained non-committal on if she would support Trump if he pulled out the GOP nomination.

“I don’t answer hypothetical questions,” Fiorina said. “Let’s see what happens when the votes are cast.”

Fiorina also leveled attacks against Clinton, the longtime target of the majority of her barbs. The attacks came a day after Fox News reported that Clinton’s private email server contained emails that hit the highest classification of classified information.

“Hillary Clinton has escaped prosecution more times than ‘El Chapo’, and I think she’s going to escape prosecution again,” Fiorina said, repeating an oft-used line of the past week. “And the media lets her get away with it time after time after time, which is why Republicans better have a nominee that can beat her. Donald Trump cannot — I can.”

“I don’t think she’s too big to jail. I would be shocked if she were prosecuted,” Fiorina said. “She’s not too big to jail … the question is will she be prosecuted by this attorney general in this administration in an election. I’m betting no.”

The comments also come a day after the network nightly newscasts all led off their shows with news of Sarah Palin endorsing Donald Trump while ignoring the new report. Clinton has pushed back against the report, dismissing it as a “leak” from an Inspector General who is working with congressional Republicans. Charles McCullough, the intelligence community IG, was appointed by President Obama

“She’s gone unscathed over and over and over again. The media should be going crazy over this,” Fiorina said.

“They should have gone crazy on Benghazi. The should have gone crazy over lots of things. But they don’t — they barely cover it.”
