Morgan Freeman, an actor best known for portraying God in Hollywood films, is lending his talents to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in a series of ads.
The first ad released on Friday, “All The Good,” mimics Bernie Sanders’ style of campaigning, as it speaks very little of policy and focused more on “the heart” than “the head.” As Freeman explains that the church taught Clinton “to do all the good you can for all the people you can, for as long as you can” images of Clinton helping African-American children flash across the screen.
The ad focuses on images of institutional racism, and shows images of the segregated South interspersed with images of the former secretary of state. Black voters make up nearly thirty percent of the South Carolina electorate and will likely determine the outcome of the Feb. 27 primary. Thus far, Clinton is much more popular than Sanders among black voters in the state, and leads him in the demographic by a large margin.
Freeman has worked with the Democratic Party in the past, and narrated ads for Barack Obama during the 2012 election. The actor met with Obama for dinner Wednesday night.
