Trump stands by ‘Islam hates us’ remark

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stood by his Wednesday night comments about Islam, saying that the religion as a whole “hates” America during Thursday night’s debate.

When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if he was referring to “all 1.6 billion Muslims,” the GOP front-runner said that “I mean a lot of them.” Trump went on to say there is a “tremendous hatred” amongst Muslims toward Americans, before standing by his answer to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday.

“I mean a lot of them,” Trump said, repeating, “I mean a lot of them.”

“Well, you know, I’ve been watching the debate today. I’ve been talking about radical Islamic terrorism or radical Islam, but I will tell you there’s something going on that maybe you don’t know about, but there’s tremendous hatred,” Trump said.

“And I will stick with exactly what I said to Anderson Cooper,” he added.

The comment goes hand-in-hand with his plan to ban Muslims who aren’t citizens entrance into the United States, which was released in early December.
