NASCAR drivers say ‘no thanks’ to Obama’s invitation

Just as President Obama extended a hand to NASCAR, inviting 11 chase drivers for a ceremony to honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson at the White House, it seems it got slapped away by bad scheduling. Nearly half of the 2010 playoff contenders who were invited to the ceremony — drivers Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvickand Tony Stewart — have said they can’t make it due to “schedule conflicts.” Fortunately, guest of honor Jimmie Johnson will be there, along with Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth.
