Idaho Gov. C. L. “Butch” Otter has endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s presidential campaign.
Otter, who became the Gem State’s governor in 2007, said he prized executive experience in explaining his decision to support Kasich.
“There’s simply no substitute for executive experience,” Otter said in a statement shared by the Kasich campaign. “Gov. Kasich has proven himself to be a leader who can effectively balance a budget, open the door to job creation and bring people together to find solutions. His record of results is unmatched by any other candidate, and it is time for Republicans to coalesce around his vision for our nation. I look forward to spreading his message of optimism and strength here in Idaho.”
Kasich, meanwhile, has sounded somewhat less sure about his prospects. Before finishing last among all of the GOP presidential contenders actively seeking the presidency in the Nevada caucus, Kasich said he was not sure whether it was his “purpose” to become president of the United States.
Idahoan Republicans will vote on March 8.
