Kasich super PAC launching new ads in NH

Super PACs supporting Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s presidential campaign have spent $5.35 million since early July canvassing New Hampshire’s air waves.

New Day for America and a companion super PAC with an identical name have launched a new ad campaign in the Granite State touting the governor’s foreign policy expertise. The second ad hit the airwaves on Monday and will run statewide through October 12.

“Who is it that’s got the foreign policy experience to deal with what has become an increasingly complicated world at a time when America needs to emerge and restore its leadership?” Kasich asks in the ad. “No one really has that experience, except for maybe one.”

A narrator then explains who the “one” is by closing with, “John Kasich’s for us.” Kasich remains in ninth place in the Washington Examiner‘s power rankings.

Last week, another ad hit the airwaves featuring a grey helicopter with red letters spelling “Kasich” emblazoned on its side that appears similar to one of Donald Trump’s helicopters.

The narrator in Kasich’s ad then describes the governor in a similar way to how Trump has fashioned his own candidacy.

“Speaks to every one of us,” the narrator says. “Blunt. Direct. Not part of the tired system. Best of all, he’s done great things. Not for himself but for us.”

Kasich has spent much of his time on the campaign trail in New Hampshire, and his super PAC began buying ads there before the governor had formally announced his presidential campaign. The early advertisements appeared to contribute to Kasich’s rise in early polling of the “Live Free or Die” state, but Carly Fiorina has since surpassed him.

Fiorina finishes third in RealClearPolitics’ average of Granite State polling, while Kasich slipped to fourth. Kasich runs right behind Trump, Ben Carson and Fiorina in New Hampshire, and performs much better there than he does nationwide.
