Celebs: We don’t feel 50!

Close to you

It was a parade of over-50 celebs — many of whom don’t look it — on Monday night, as AARP The Magazine presented its annual Inspire Awards at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

First up: Glenn Close, who agreed that she doesn’t think of herself as an AARP member. She said in committing to a show long-term, like she has with “Damages,” means that “you’re going to have a very vivid record of how you age.”

Still, she said, you only get an inkling of what’s going on” after you hit 50.

Next up: “The OC” star Peter Gallager, who said it’s his parents’ fault that his appearance belies his 53  years. “I wouldn’t want to be 20 or 30 again,” he admitted.

So will we see them back for inauguration? Yes, said Close. “Like several million people [I just want to] be in the town where it’s all happening.”

But Gallagher won’t be making the trip. “I did everything I could for the president-elect,” he said. “But it’s a thrill to be in this town right now.”

Also in the house: sportscaster James Brown, Quincy Jones, Jane Pauley, Meredith Viera, Alma Powell, Colin Powell and Michael Powell.
