GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee on Wednesday said he’s worried that he may not be able to get equal time at Wednesday night’s GOP debate, and that front-runner Donald Trump will get the lion’s share.
“If you keep it fair, divide the time up equally and don’t make this a one or two-candidate show, then yeah, I’ve got a real shot,” Huckabee said on CNN. “But I think all of us have to be concerned that it’s going to be like the TV coverage has been over the past few weeks and so unbelievably centered on one candidate, and that’s going to be hard for us.”
On CNN’s stage, there will be 11 candidates total, including Huckabee, who is currently polling in sixth place in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls. Like most of the GOP field, Huckabee has struggled to capture media attention, overshadowed by Trump’s sensational candidacy.
The stage will be laid out according to poll numbers, which puts Trump, the front-runner, in the center and subsequent candidates flanking either side of him in order of descending numbers.
Several candidates, including Jeb Bush, Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina, are expected to confront Trump over statements he has made recently, including a snide comment about Fiorina’s looks.
