White House press secretary Josh Earnest’s attempt at humor over Donald Trump’s sniffles fell flat with the White House press corps on Monday.
Earnest was asked to comment on the Republican nominee’s suggestion that Hillary Clinton be drug tested prior to Wednesday’s final presidential debate.
“The candidate who snorted his way through the first two debates is accusing the other candidate of taking drugs?” Earnest said.
The press responded with awkward silence.
Trump’s infamous sniffling during the first debate last month prompted former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean to tweet speculation that Trump was a “coke user.”
