Sharkey’s Cantina in Oak Bluffs is welcoming the first family with some south-of-the-border flair: The restaurant has added the “Barack-O-Taco” and the “Obamarita” to the menu.
According to the blog Obama Foodorama, the tacos are made of, “coconut-breaded shrimp, topped with pineapple cilantro vanilla-infused salsa and served atop refried beans, on a soft taco.” The Obamarita is made with “freshly crushed mandarin oranges with pineapple, triple sec and tequila.” This drink, no doubt, is far more signature than the margarita he downed in Phoenix last week, which was crafted with Sauza Tres Generaciones Plata Tequila, Presidente Brandy and Patron Citronage.
And after dinner comes dessert, natch. Mad Martha’s, an ice cream store popular with locals and vacationers alike, plans to come up with an Obama-flavored treat. According to The Boston Herald, owners Patti and Paul Roberts said, “It will probably be something with Hawaiian flavor.”
The next morning, as everybody emerges from the food coma, they can head to Beetlebung Coffee House in Vineyard Haven. The cafe this week offers “The O’Bomber Jump Shot Latte,” which is a free shot of espresso added to any latte, hot or cold.
Side Dish: Sources report the rumors of the Obamas traveling with a “food taster” are untrue. Too bad. Sounds like they would have had the week of their food tasting lives.
