Apolo Ohno wants in on the Obama action

Super speed skater Apolo Ohno is heading to the White House Wednesday on a mission: Find the first lady and forge an alliance.

“I’m going to corner her,” he told Yeas & Nays Tuesday.

The reason?

The Olympian is in town talking to kids about the dangers of underage drinking for a “Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix” campaign, but he’s promoting healthy living as well, something Michelle Obama has made a top priority with her “Let’s Move” campaign.

Ohno said he thinks the two should team up.

“I told the president, ‘I would love to be involved, let me know how I can make this work,'” Ohno said about when he met President Obama at the annual Easter Egg Roll. “And I’m going to tell her the same thing when I sit down with her tomorrow,” he said, though he said he didn’t have an official meeting booked with FLOTUS.

Ohno spread his message Tuesday at the Arlington Science Focus Elementary School where Secretary of Education Arne Duncan also made an appearance. Duncan’s kids attend the school.
