A female reporter covering Hillary Clinton’s campaign said in a recent interview that she thinks the presumed Democratic nominee “hates” the journalists who cover her.
“I think she hates us,” Politico reporter Annie Karni is quoted as saying in a new Vogue magazine story about women journalists covering the election.
In another part of the story, Karni says she believes the former secretary of state and first lady is keeping close watch of the reporters who follow her, perhaps to evade them more effectively should they come at her with questions.
“The first time Karni realized that Clinton knew her name was when [Clinton’s communications director Jennifer Palimeri] told her that Clinton had asked if ‘Annie’ had gotten a haircut,” the story said. “The sense was that she’s eyeing us and knows who’s covering her,'” said Karni.
Clinton is widely known to have had a history of contentious relations with the press.
In a recent interview on MSNBC, veteran newswoman Connie Chung recalled having covered Clinton. “There’s that side of her I found that was so incredibly paranoid and cautious,” she said.
