Clinton: Trump supporter’s behavior was ‘repugnant’

Hillary Clinton denounced a Donald Trump supporter who is charged with punching a protester in the face during a Trump rally in North Carolina on Thursday.

“This kind of behavior is repugnant. We set the tone for our campaigns — we should encourage respect, not violence,” Clinton wrote in response to MSNBC commentator Christopher Hayes’ tweet quoting the perpetrator as saying “Yes, he deserved it. The next time we see him, we may have to kill him.”

The Democratic front-runner has been increasingly vocal in her condemnation of Trump and his policies while on the campaign trail, but this is the first time she has ever taken issue with one of his supporters. The former secretary of state has criticized Trump’s policies, although she refused to call him a “racist” during the Democratic debate in Miami on Wednesday night.

The Trump fan in question, an older white male, has been taken into custody for sucker punching the young African-American protestor. There have been no conclusive reports as to whether or not the attack was racially motivated.
