Actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger said President Trump’s frequent and public remarks about him can all be chalked up to infatuation.
“I think he’s in love with me,” Schwarzenegger said of Trump on SiriusXM’s “The Michael Smerconish Program.”
“Yeah, I think so,” he added when asked if that was really the case.
Schwarzenegger took over as host of NBC’s “The Apprentice” after Trump ran for president. But after one season, the actor said he was bowing out because the show had been tainted.
“When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it,” Schwarzenegger said last week.
Trump had previously criticized his “Apprentice” predecessor for receiving lower TV ratings than he did during his own tenure at the show’s helm.
After Schwarzenegger’s comments on leaving the show, Trump wrote on Twitter that Schwarzenegger had been “fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings.”
And at the National Prayer Breakfast in February, Trump said during his speech that he wanted to “pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings, okay?”
