POTUS has dropped eggs from the Truman Balcony

We gathered this tidbit from Tuesday’s White House Pool Report — President Obama has dropped eggs off the Truman balcony. The president, entertaining youngsters from around the country at the second annual White House Science Fair, stopped to talk to three girls from the third poorest school district in Texas who are members of the Presidio High School Rocketry Team.

Their fun and feminine designs, like one wrapped in yellow paper and embellished with cherry blossoms, got the president’s attention. “I’ve gotta say though this is not a tough looking rocket…with the flowers and birds and stuff,” POTUS said. “It’s beautiful you just don’t usually see rockets this pretty.” The girls — Janet Nieto, Ann Karen and Gwynelle Condino  explained that their challenge was for the rocket to reach a certain altitude, use a material that wasn’t metal, and carry two raw eggs without damaging them.

The president then had his own anecdote to share. He had helped daughter Sasha win an egg drop contest. “We practiced by dropping it from the Truman balcony,” President Obama said. “We had a whole bunch of prototypes and she ended up winning…so I’m hip to the whole egg thing, it’s tough.” He concluded the conversation by giving the Texas trio a hug.
