Politico accuses journalist of stalking Hillary Clinton

Politico and the Huffington Post are deeply unimpressed with TMZ’s attempts over the past few days to get Hillary Clinton to comment on a scandal involving her use of a private email account when she served as secretary of state.

And although both news outlets seized on a TMZ journalist’s awkwardly phrased question to Clinton, Politico went so far as to accuse the enterprising newsman of “stalking” the likely Democratic candidate for president in 2016.

“With the blunder of the emails, was that just a generalization gap or can that be corrected?” TMZ photographer Colin Drummond asked Clinton Thursday at Reagan National Airport in Virginia.

TMZ, a gossip news organization that frequently breaks major news on non-celebrity topics, published footage of Drummond’s awkwardly worded question, which Clinton declined to answer.

Politico highlighted that video with the headline, “TMZ Stalks Hillary Clinton,” but it soon changed that to read: “TMZ asks Hillary Clinton a question.”

Elsewhere, the Huffington Post poked fun at Drummond’s strange syntax, accusing the gossip site of botching its opportunity “in truly spectacular fashion.”

Drummond “phrased his question in such an awkward, unintelligible manner that Clinton wouldn’t have been able to answer it even if she was willing,” the Huffington Post noted in an article titled “TMZ Fails Spectacularly At Getting Hillary Clinton On The Record About Email Scandal.”
