New Cruz PR director has only ‘one goal in mind’

Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign named Alice Stewart its new communications director Tuesday after firing her predecessor Rick Tyler on Monday.

“Ted is a stellar example of a true, consistent conservative who has spent his career protecting and defending the Constitution,” Stewart told the Washington Examiner late Tuesday. “This is a fantastic team of professionals who work tirelessly with one goal in mind – to help Ted win the nomination.”

Stewart has worked with members of the campaign press corps since joining Cruz’s team as senior communications adviser in early January. She had jumped ship from former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee’s team, whom she also worked for during his 2008 run.

Stewart also served in various communications positions for Sen. Rick Santorum’s and Rep. Michele Bachmann’s White House bids in 2012. Following that election, she took to the air waves of KHTE in Little Rock, Ark. as a radio talk host for two years.

Tyler was terminated after sharing a video that portrayed fellow Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio mocking the Bible. In fact, he had praised it.

Cruz and Rubio are ranked second and third, respectively, in the Washington Examiner’s latest presidential power rankings.
