Brandon Stanton, who has made his blog Humans of New York popular by taking photos of everyday people and letting them tell their stories in their own words, has a new subject of focus: Donald Trump.
On Monday, Stanton took to HONY’s Facebook page and his personal Twitter account to condemn the Republican presidential front-runner, explaining how Trump’s rhetoric has moved him to speak his mind on the 2016 election.

“I try my hardest not to be political,” Stanton wrote. “I thought: ‘Maybe the timing is not right.’ But I realize now that there is no correct time to oppose violence and prejudice. The time is always now. Because along with millions of Americans, I’ve come to realize that opposing you is no longer a political decision. It is a moral one.”
Stanton continued on by criticizing Trump’s positions on Muslims, refugees and immigrants. He also accused the billionaire businessman of inciting violence at his campaign events. Trump’s Chicago rally was canceled Friday after Trump supporters and protesters clashed.
“I am a journalist, Mr. Trump. And over the last two years I have conducted extensive interviews with hundreds of Muslims, chosen at random, on the streets of Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan,” Stanton wrote. “I’ve also interviewed hundreds of Syrian and Iraqi refugees across seven different countries. And I can confirm — the hateful one is you.”
The blog, which rarely editorializes, has over 17 million Facebook followers and posts multiple times daily.
