Sen. Marco Rubio on Thursday night asked the GOP debate moderators for persmission to talk once Ted Cruz and Donald Trump were “done with the yoga.”
Going after Trump, Cruz told onlookers that the real estate mogul would compromise and back a Supreme Court nominee that isn’t whole-heartedly behind the Second Amendment. Trump followed up by using his usual line of attack, telling Republicans that Cruz was the “primary supporter” of Chief Justice John Roberts.
“You know, Donald has a tenuous relationship with the truth,” Cruz said to laughs in the audience. Trump began to go after Cruz again over his support for Roberts.
“Donald, please, I know it’s hard to interrupt. Breathe, breathe, breathe,” Cruz told Trump. “You can do it. You can breathe. I know it’s hard. I know it’s hard, but just…”
“When they’re done with the yoga, can I answer a question?” Rubio asked.
“I really hope that we don’t see yoga on this stage,” Cruz responded.
“Well, he’s very flexible so you’d never know,” Rubio said, winning laughs from the crowd.
