Romney lands some punches in the boxing ring against Holyfield

Weighing in at 179 pounds, he’ll make his boxing debut here in Salt Lake City … His political career, one win, and one very big loss!” the fight announcer said Friday, in an unlikely marquee match-up between boxing legend Evander Holyfield and Mitt Romney.

“For two rounds, Romney, 68, and Holyfield, 52, went head-to-head, each landing gentle blows that appeared more like a tickle fight than a boxing match. Although Holyfield took a tumble on the mat, Romney threw in the towel in the second round,” CNN reported of the event, which was a charity fundraiser.

For his part, Romney appeared to enjoy the faux-fight, which he trained with Holyfield for in the preceding weeks.

Romney was the Republican presidential candidate running against President Obama in 2012.

The fight raised money for CharityVision, an organization that helps people with blindness receive surgeries that can restore some vision.
