CLEVELAND — Arkansas people have “warm feelings” toward Bill Clinton, but don’t feel the same about his wife, according to Sen. Tom Cotton.
The Arkansas senator told the Washington Examiner, “If you look at Hillary Clinton’s platform she is repudiating almost every accomplishment of the Clinton presidency.”
The freshman senator pointed to Hillary Clinton’s positions on welfare reform, crime, and the federal budget as departures from the agenda her husband advanced in the White House. Cotton also drew parallels between Hillary’s treatment of news media while running for president and the way, he says, she stiff-armed them while first lady of Arkansas.
“I think she’s up to about nine or 10 months now without having done a press conference,” said Cotton. “Which is kind of the way she treated Arkansans for the past 16 years.”
Accusing Clinton of a life of rampant corruption, Cotton said one doesn’t need to go back to President Clinton’s time as governor to find abundant evidence. He pointed to Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state and controversies surrounding the Clinton Foundation as proof of “shady dealings.” Cotton believes Hillary Clinton’s activities during her time at Foggy Bottom need to be investigated further and drew attention to the FBI’s ongoing investigation of the organization.
Cotton, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, also offered his vision for how he feels America can win again, stressing that Democratic wins in November will leave the country less safe.
“We need a new credible deterrent in our president, this president is not feared by our adversaries anymore” added Cotton. “When that happens the world becomes a more dangerous place.”
