Chris Christie received an especially sweet endorsement for his presidential campaign Monday morning.
The New Jersey governor was introduced at a campaign event at the Gilchrist Metal Co. in Hudson, N.H., by Buddy Valastro, the star of reality baking show “Cake Boss” and the owner of the show’s featured establishment, Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, N.J.
“We need someone who’s going to cut through the bullcrap and bring people together,” Valastro said, according to the Associated Press.
Valastro also highlighted Christie’s ability to make things happen in a largely Democratic state and his leadership following Hurricane Sandy.
“I honestly believe he would make an awesome president,” Valastro said, according to Bob Jordan of the Asbury Park Press.
Christie returned the love by saying, “His cakes look amazing. But they taste even better.”

Unfortunately for Christie, the endorsement had the unintended effect, at least among some Twitter users, of bringing attention to his weight.
