Donald Trump has joined thousands of Americans hoping to see Republican presidential candidates answer a question of their choosing during the upcoming GOP primary debate.
Fox News and Facebook recently encouraged Americans to submit questions for the 10 Republican candidates participating in Thursday’s debate using the hashtag #GOPDebate. But on Monday afternoon, the GOP candidate himself submitted a question he’d like his competition to answer.
“I’d like to ask all of the candidates — that is politicians and really non-negotiators, people that don’t negotiate jobs and lots of other things — how are you going to make America great again?” Trump asked in a video posted to Facebook on Monday afternoon.
The bombastic billionaire, whose earned a reputation for attacking his fellow candidates, posted the video with the tagline “My #GOPDebate Facebook question for the other candidates.” Trump’s question is a play on his campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” which has been printed on an assortment of red, white and blue baseball caps that the spitfire candidate now wears during campaign appearances.
The debate is slated to take place in Cleveland, Ohio on Aug. 6 and will feature the top 10 GOP candidates as measured by five national polls from major organizations. The network recently announced that it will also host a 90-minute forum hours before the debate that will give candidates who did not qualify for the debate an opportunity for exposure.
Trump is expected to head into the debate as the GOP front-runner with 20.8 percent support among Republican voters, according to the latest RealClearPolitics polling average. Whether moderators will ask the other candidates to field his question remains to be seen.
