$18.25 million: The amount that presidential hopeful Mitt Romney raked in for the first quarter of fundraising for his White House run, $5 million less than he netted for the first quarter in 2007. Romney’s finance chairman Spencer Zwick said “Voters are responding to Mitt Romney’s message that President Obama’s policies have failed … Our fundraising for the second quarter represents the strong support Mitt Romney has across the country.” And it’s not a bad argument, numbers-wise. None of the other candidates cracked double digits in recent-quarter fundraising.
