Donald Trump leads a new poll of likely Republican voters in South Carolina, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in a close battle for second place.

Trump finished first in the Augusta Chronicle poll with the support of 36 percent of those surveyed, followed by Cruz at 20 percentage points, Rubio at 15 points, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 11 points, and Ben Carson at 9 points.

“Trump carries every age group except for the youngest (18-29) where Rubio nudges Trump out by 7 points,” said Matt Towery, political analyst for FOX 5 Atlanta, to Morris News Service. “Trump has the highest support from almost every segment of respondents grouped by political philosophy.”

The poll surveyed 779 likely GOP voters on Feb. 10 and 11 with a 3.5 percentage point margin of error. The South Carolina Republican primary will take place on Feb. 20. The GOP candidates will debate in Greenville on Saturday night.
