Cruz calls for ‘retroactive assessment of refugees’

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said Friday he believes the United States needs a “retroactive assessment of refugees” residing in the United States. The senator made the comments in the aftermath of terrorism-related arrests of refugees in Texas and California.

“There is no doubt we need a retroactive assessment of refugees who have been admitted to this country,” Cruz said. “We need to systematically examine the national security threats. And I’ll tell you, one of the greatest challenges with the Obama administration assessing security risks is the bizarre, the indefensible political correctness of refusing to acknowledge what it is we are fighting.”

Cruz is on the campaign trail in Iowa where he plans to hold five events on Friday afternoon. He ranks first in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings.
