Kilmer, Elfman on the Hill

Sightings

Only days after he announced he was mulling a run for governor of New Mexico, mercurial actor Val Kilmer was spotted on Capitol Hill. Our spy saw Kilmer making his way through the Capitol Visitors Center among the other tourists. Later, he was seen in the cafeteria of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

A spokeswoman for Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., said the senator ran into Kilmer at the National Museum of the American Indian, where they were attending Chairman Joe Garcia’s state of the state address to the National Congress of American Indians. “They’ve been friends for many years so he dropped by the office and they had lunch before the Senator escorted him to the Senate gallery,” said the spokeswoman.

A spokeswoman for Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., said the actor and the senator did not meet yesterday, but they have a meeting scheduled for today.

On the other side of the Hill, Jenna Elfman (you remember? from “Dharma and Greg”?) was seen in the cafeteria in the Longworth House Office Building.

And finally, also spotted having lunch in the cafeteria: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The mayor was scheduled to have a press conference with freshman lawmakers and other mayors, but the event was canceled after a deal on the stimulus package was reached Wednesday afternoon.
