Romney leads Obama in hypothetical match-up

A new poll from Dartmouth University’s Nelson A. Rockefeller Center shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama among New Hampshire voters in a hypothetical match-up for the 2012 election by 8 points, making him the only Republican contender to come that close. The poll showed Obama leading Mike Huckabee by 8 points, Tim Pawlenty by 16, Haley Barbour by 19, Donald Trump by 22 and Sarah Palin by 27 points.

Politico noted an interesting twist to the 2012 presidential cocktail, however, pointing out that the poll — which tested 426 registered voters from the granite state on their preferences — showed that former Secretary of State Colin Powell would beat Obama by 20 points, though Powell endorsed Obama in 2008 and he’s expressed no interest in running.
